Organization description
The SDG Impact Finance Initiative (SIFI) is an international platform that mobilises catalytic capital to unlock private investment in emerging markets and developing economies. Its mission is advancing measurable progress in developing countries towards the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals by mobilising new capital through innovative finance solutions and collaboration between public and private partners. It partners with governments, foundations and investors to enable capital to flow with scale, confidence and integrity. SIFI works through three windows. The Innovation Window funds design, proof of concept and early-stage scaling of innovative financing solutions in ODA-eligible countries through grants. The Investment Window provides first loss junior equity tranches to scale established funds. The Ecosystem Window addresses systemic barriers, improves standards and uses real-world data. To date, SIFI has supported 37 initiatives with over USD 9 million in grants and committed over USD 21 million to seven scalable funds.
